| Iraqi's Most Wanted Playing Cards |
You've seen these cards on the nightly news. They've been featured in newspapers worldwide. Now you can own the one true collector's item from Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is the same 55-card deck given to Coalition soldiers featuring Iraq's 52 Most Wanted leaders.
Uday Hussein (deceased) is the ace of hearts. Qusay Hussein (deceased) is the ace of clubs. The ace of spades, naturally, is their father, Saddam Hussein, who was finally captured while cowardly hiding in a 'rat hole'. Saddam, yes Saddam, is also deceased: Saddam's reign of terror is finally over.
The playing card idea is not a new one. It was used all the way back in WWII to help soldiers familiarise themselves with German military equipment, so they could more quickly recognize friend from foe and gauge the strength of the enemy in a local area. These packs have gone on to become very valuable collectors items.
In the Vietnam war soldiers were issued with packs of cards that contained nothing but the Ace of Spades. These cards were useful in psychological warfare. The Viet Cong were very superstitious and highly frightened by this ace. The cards were deliberately scattered in the jungle and in hostile villages during raids. The very sight of it was said to cause many Viet Cong to flee.
The purpose behind the playing cards in this case is to help soldiers recognize people in the Iraqi leadership that might be seen in disguise or would otherwise have escaped their attention. A bored soldier is far more likely to break out a deck of cards in his off-time, than to pick up a study booklet to learn the faces of those he is to be on the lookout for.

Not suprisingly, there has been a great deal of media interest in the story.
Central Command on April 11th said it had issued troops decks of playing cards with photos of 55 regime figures being sought.
The Cards also were posted on the Defense Department’s Web site. The names were also being put on posters and handbills for the Iraqi public. Curiously absent is Saddam’s minister of information, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf, who boasted of battlefield successes right up to the time he disappeared Tuesday. Saddam and his two sons are shown as aces, as is the presidential secretary, Abid Hamid Mahmud al-Tikriti. And a familiar figure, Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz, is the eight of spades.
