How many videos have you viewed about the Hawaii tsunami 2010? How many Chile earthquake pictures have you seen with the past 24 hours? If you haven’t heard about the news about the Chile quake 2010, you must be living in a cave.
The news about the Chile quake 2010 tsunami was overwhelming. Since Haiti earthquake 2010, no one was actually expecting such a major earthquake in South America. I spend the day online, searching for news stories about the major earthquake in Chile. The powerful quake is expected to send tsunami waves to Hawaii and as far away as Japan.
Chile Earthquake 1960 Pictures
I am taken aback by the fact that there could be Japan tsunami 2010. I can’t fathom what the end result will be within the next few weeks. Amazingly, the Chile earthquake death toll for Chile earthquake 2010 is not expected to exceed the toll for the 1960 Chile earthquake.
I have viewed very graphic Chile Earthquake 2010 disaster pictures, as well as consuming as much Chile Earthquake 2010 news I can endure in one sitting.
Santiago Chile Earthquake Death Toll
At the time of my posting this Weblog entry, the death toll for Santiago, Chile is 700-plus dead. As emergency and disaster relief teams search and recover earthquake victims continue, the official number of dead will most likely be updated.
To date, nearly 2 million people have been left homeless or are not accessible to a without shelter. The humanitarian workers and volunteers of the American Red Cross and other humanitarian agencies have been deployed and are expected to distribute humanitarian aid and disaster relief to survivors as soon as possible.
Santiago and Concepcion — both of which are Chile’s largest cities — were hit the hardest. Both received merciless shock waves from the earthquake’s epicenter.
Hawaii’s Tsunami Warnings
As I searched for the latest Chile earthquake updates, I stumbled upon news stories about Hawaii’s tsunami warnings. I pray and hope that my friends living in Hawaii have heed emergency preparedness warnings. It is never deem wise to underestimate tsunami warnings. If I can endure more disaster news today, I may view more photos and videos online later.
Haiti Earthquake Death Toll
Despite Haiti was hit by a 7.0-magnitude earthquake, the Caribbean country’s death toll was over 230,000 — while the Chilean earthquake was 8.8 on the Richter scale, which death toll is expected to be nearly 1,000.
Haiti’s 7.0 earthquake resulted in over 200,000 dead while Chile 8.8 earthquake resulted in about 1,000. The math doesn’t seem to add up; however, Chile is fortunate to have more resources that Haiti to build better buildings which resulting in fewer deaths in the event of a earthquake.
The disasters in Haiti and Chile proves that we inhabitants of planet Earth must establish better relationships to ensure the survival of mankind. It a shame that we only unite during and after disasters. Oddly, once the immediate danger has elapsed, most people revert back to their “old ways.”
Please don’t be one of them. Get involved with worthy charities and non-profit organizations and give back to humanity. You could save a life when the next and/or future disasters occur.
