There are many blogs with little or no “PageRank™” which outperform blogs with “higher” “PageRank™.” Sadly, you need to hire experienced Top Guns to find the blogs to which Google hasn’t had the chance to assign “PageRank™.”

My point is you are leaving money on the floor based on a common misconception:

PageRank™ matters. NOT!

Why should a blog’s PageRank™ matter? PageRank™ is not an absolute science! Keep re-reading that phrase until in sears deeply into your brain, folks.

PageRank™ is not an absolute science! PageRank™ is not an absolute science! PageRank™ is not an absolute science!

Named after co-founder Larry Page, PageRank™ used to be a novel idea: it used to convey a heightened sense of achievement, trust, and utter coolness. Today, PageRank™ is merely an online joke.

Yes, using PageRank™ as the measurement of a blog’s success is indeed a joke to many bloggers. Many malicious bloggers and online marketers exploit Google PageRank™ for financial and personal gain.

PageRank is easy to manipulate. PageRank is not an absolute science. PageRank has been reduced to a novelty item with which “malicious” bloggers can use to influence negotiation with unsuspecting advertisers.

I have personally seen BRAND NEW blogs receiving a 5 PageRank™ in less than 30 days. I have also seen many sites 5 years and older “losing PageRank™” for no apparent reason.

I ought to know. I personally own many sites one of which is eight years older, a blog-related site which have been “hand-coded” since its inception. No automated mumbo jumbo! No API! No black hat, white hat, gray hat, purple hat trickery. PERIOD!

Google is highly secretive about how PageRank™ works for obvious reasons. However, I disregard the occasional drop in PageRank™ and better place my energy on Web property development projects from which I earn “a few pesos.”

Like MicroSoft, Google is always “behind” in releasing “updates for PageRank™.” I am still utterly amazed that many bloggers and advertisers alike are so stuck on “PageRank™” instead of a blog’s traffic count.

Bloggers should better spend their time producing great Weblog entries which attracts readers, resulting in serious advertisers eager to place ad orders on their blogs.

IMHO, I suggest that advertisers should concentrate on blogs with which their offers are in congruent as opposed to using the lame “PageRank™” tactic in “lowballing” hardworking bloggers to “submit” to “$5 insults.”

I have a blog directory to which many bloggers submit their blogs, none of which I have EVER omitted for having a so-called “low PageRank™.” To me “PageRank™” is NO LONGER relevant. Time has change and so has the relevance of “PageRank™.”

The key to success for advertisers is connect with bloggers in a related field who blog daily. I willing to bet a stale jelly doughnut that the so-called high-ranking blogs today will be among the low-ranking blogs six months from now. And the so-called low-ranking blogs today will be among the high-ranking blogs six months from now. That’s why I avoid investing my trust in a site’s “PageRank™.”

What’s going on with Google?

Only the Mountain View, California-based company knows the answer to that question. In the meantime, ALL bloggers should be posting useful content on a regular basis, at which point “serious” advertisers will be begging to pay almost ANY price to advertise on HOT Weblog properties.

In the meantime, I am highly confident that IZEA will upgrade the system to facilitate the process of better introducing serious advertisers to hard-working bloggers. The end result should be obvious… more money, more money, more money. Every serious advertiser, hard-woorking blogger and IZEA team member will be reaping the benefits of a well-oiled machine… IZEA.

Lastly, one word of wisdom…

A serious advertiser/advertising middleman would almost NEVER ask:

“How much do I have to pay this blogger?”

Instead he or she should ask:

“How much money can this blogger generate for me?”

A blog’s Compete.com and/or Alexa.com (gasp!) rank should be taken in consideration. Because Alexa can ALSO be manipulated, I prefer Compete.com rank system over Alexa.com ranking system. Now.. Enough of the geek speak.

In essence, I have been burned by “low-balling” advertisers/advertising middlemen in the past. Never again shall I succumb to the same fate in a single lifetime!

Pay each hard-working blogger (especially the hard-working mommy blogger) what he or she worth!

Advertisers should avoid wholly relying on a blog’s “PageRank™” which is subject to change on a moment’s notice. Remember, “PageRank™” is like the wind… here one moment, gone the next moment.

Any self-respecting, hard-working blogger should avoid accepting “low ball” payments for his or her sweat equity. Google will eventually deliver a lot of traffic as a blog “ages gracefully,” during which time the blog will increase its readership and will soon attract serious advertisers.

I am not here to debate anyone. I am just merely sharing my past experience with advertisers and bloggers alike.

Let’s ALL make money together. Don’t let the stigma of PageRank™ get in the way and “SOUR” the deal.

Best regards,

Wil Ford, U.S.M.C.
